I work with both commercially printed and hand-dyed fabrics, including cotton, silk, velvet and metallic. Each artwork is an interaction between the pieced or collaged composition and the stitched lines that hold the work together. The quilting acts as a drawn “line:” to shade, to define direction, to create form, to suggest scale or space. My primary concerns deal with form in space, vibration of color and the element of surprise.
