I am a sculptural basket-maker. In an effort to challenge the original definition of basketry, I explore contemporary interpretations of this traditional craft by utilizing non-traditional ingredients. I incorporate common, urban materials in uncommon ways, while maintaining my deep commitment to the vessel form. I have used cable ties, plastic tubing, shoulder pads, wire, hardware cloth, zippers, hair curlers, chop sticks, swimming-pool cover, mountain-climbing rope, newspaper bags, conduit, pencils, pens and ordinary, everyday household items. My goal is to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary. My work is whimsical and innovative........
